!FATHER: Family tradition; ; Benajah Hall; ; ; NOTE: Iva J. Geary, great granddaughter, and most other Hall researchers have adopted the tradition that Asa's father was Benajah Hall, who came from Rhode Island to Dutchess Co NY when Asa was about five years old, or about 1763. James J. Geary has photos of Asa's DAR grave marker at Hall's Church near Ironto VA which reads: "Asa Hall, New York, PVT N.Y. regt. Rev. War." No documentation has been found confirming Benajah as the father.
!BIOGRAPHY: Family tradition; ; Iva J. Geary; ; ; NOTE: Tradition has it that Asa was a part-time stone mason who built the crypt at Fartheringay, near Elliston in Montgomery Co, where the Hancock family buried their dead.
