!BIOGRAPHY: Iva J.Geary character sketch of Thomas Jewel; ; ; ; NOTE: She said he was a "Universalist;" partly French descent; of a happy, tender-hearted disposition; would not stay home when animals were slaughtered for meat. While at his son's home, his daughter in law, Mary (Polly) Jewel, took him to bed with a light; when he got there and into bed he said, jokingly: "Oh god Pol (Polly), I forgot to say my prayers." Was said to believe that everyone would go to heaven. She said there was evidence that he married twice in Botetourt. She had seen his wife's name spelled Grayham.
